How To Clean Your Period Cup
Period cups have revolutionized the way people manage their menstrual cycles, offering a sustainable and comfortable alternative to traditional disposable products. Let's dive into the exciting world of cleaning and caring for your beloved cup. And guess what? We've got just the perfect cleaning companion for you – Nox Wash foaming toy soap! We designed it for non-porous toys but it happens to be the perfect thing to use to wash a silicone cup. In this blog post, we'll walk you through the steps to keep your period cup fresh and clean.
Step 1: Gather your supplies
Before you begin your cleaning extravaganza, make sure your hands are clean. Once your hands are squeaky clean, it's time to gather your materials: your period cup, Nox Wash or other unscented gentle soap, and an optional pot of boiling water (more on that below). We're all set to go!
Step 2: Get Soapy
Squirt a small amount of soap onto your palm and create a lather. It's like a mini spa treatment for your period cup!
Step 3: Get In There
Place your cup under a stream of warm water and gently rub it with your soapy hands. Make sure to cover every nook and cranny (including the tiny suction release holes) inside and out.
Step 4: Boiling
Do you need to boil your menstrual cup? Nope! But if you've reached the end of your cycle, we recommend a quick boil before storing it between cycles. Fill a pot with water and bring it to a gentle boil. Submerge your cup into the bubbling water and let it simmer for a few minutes. This helps sterilize your cup. Remember, no microwaves, as they can damage your silicone cup!
Step 5: The Drying Ritual
Once your cup has basked in the boiling water, carefully remove it and let it air dry in a clean spot. Avoid using towels or tissue, as they can leave behind lint or residue.
Congratulations! You've successfully conquered the art of cleaning your silicone period cup. By following these simple steps, you can keep your cup in top-notch condition, ready to accompany you on your next period.
